Do we have a memorial for fire fighters who have laid down their lives?

Innumerable brave fire fighters have laid sacrificed their lives. In many cases deaths have occurred due to jumping off from buildings.

In January 2005 two New York City firefighters jumped to their deaths from a burning building. After this loss the FDNY set out to design a safety device to keep that from ever happening again.

The Result is a compact, lightweight personal safety system that’s easy to carry and made for a quick escape. It has a forged-steel hook that can penetrate bricks to allow a firefighter to anchor him before jumping out the window. A lever mechanism allows the fire fighter to choose the speed of his fall. It has a rope 50 feet long which is fire resistant and can withstand temperatures up to 1100°F. The lever mechanism regulates his fall and saves the fire fighter from certain death. This can easily be called one of the path breaking innovations designed to save human lives.
